Time just flies! Today I am sharing my NOW 17 year olds pictures (yes, I have some scrappy catching up to do!) on a layout. I made this for Scrap Gal, lots of American Crafts papers here!
You can see a current pic of my oldest son in the little circle, they grow so fast- he is starting college next month. That is just wrong, I am not old to have these grown children!
Christmas in July? Yep! Did you know Clear Scraps makes ornaments? Clear Scraps acrylic is so versytle that you can do just about anything to it and its going to look great! Here I took a small shape and used an embossing folder to dry emboss it through my Cuttlebug! Then I used Alcohol inks - blues and greens then covered most of the back with a Paint Daubbr in Pearl.
Here I started using the same techniques as above, but did not add the Pearl paint daubber - you can tell this on is more translucent. ( I used alcohol inks in blues, greens and silver metallic.) I added little stars with Zip Dry and edged the shape with silver Stickles.
Here I used the same technique as above then added a
little paper banner that I colored with Distress Inks.
The possibilities are endless and you can use these techniques on all of your acrylic!
Secondly, CHA is fast approaching, which means…NEW RELEASES ARE ON THE WAY!!!! They have lots of fun new stuff to share over the next few weeks, so be sure to stop back often to see sneak peeks of what’s in store. Starting on July 1st!
Well I am counting down the days, I cannot tell you how excited I am! Having 7 people in a three bedroom apartment does not work- at least not comfortably! What was supposed to be a two month stay in temp housing turned into 6 months! Well time is almost up and surely you can understand my excitement!
This is a page out my "Welcome Home" mini book - these are quotes and scriptures I want to put in and around my house somehow - haven't figured out how yet but I'll figure it out. ***
Meanwhile we are settling in - at least trying to! I did sing yesterday at church (we are going to a church close to our new home) and the kids are making friends. We are about 40 minutes away right now so the kids do have to transfer to a new school in the fall. ( Which is why we wanted them to make friends at church!) Yesterday I sang "Blessings" by Laure Story. If you haven't heard it, I put it below so you can hear it - it is an amazing song.
*** I will probably do a scrapbook page with some of the lyrics - about our kids and their special needs and what we've been through...it's very powerful.
Here are the lyrics
We pray for blessings We pray for peace Comfort for family, protection while we sleep We pray for healing, for prosperity We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering All the while, You hear each spoken need Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You’re near What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom Your voice to hear And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love As if every promise from Your Word is not enough All the while, You hear each desperate plea And long that we'd have faith to believe
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You’re near And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
When friends betray us When darkness seems to win We know the pain reminds this heart That this is not, this is not our home
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears And what if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You’re near What if my greatest disappointments Or the aching of this life Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy And what if trials of this life The rain, the storms, the hardest nights Are Your mercies in disguise
I hope this speaks to you and blesses you. Let me know what you think!
This is the first time I played with a bottlecap - it's oversized, about 3 inches and it was so fun to work with!. This was a make and take at the Great Amerian Scrapbook Convention a few weeeks ago and I have to say although it's way to bulky for a scrapbook page it would a fun surprize on a card- maybe with a magnet attached to the back? I came home and added a ribbon to hang it. This would be a quick and easy gift idea!
A canvas tag submitted for your approval...(Hmm having a "Twilight Zone" flashback!)
I am really loving canvas lately, so here is a tag that I covered with Gesso and colored with Faber Castell pencils. I know its hard to see but it is a very subtle pale pink, very pretty. I embossed the word "Dream" and colored it in with the pencils, first pink then brown.
A close up. I added the key - in case this key might unlock your dreams...
A side view. A tag is a great way to try out new techniques, have you tried canvas?
I would love to see your canvas tags!! Link it up!
Oh and if you are looking for something to do this weekend Sat the 11th ScrapGal is having an online crop! So come and check it out!!! There is also a DT call going on!
