Spring has sprung...

Spring
love the weather
hate the allergies
seriously
I should own stock in tissue companies!
Excuse me while I wait for allergy meds to kick in.

Ok I am over myself! LOL before I get to far into this -
those allergy meds make  me a little fuzzy so I want to mention this border I made!
Did you know (Cricut lovers out there!) that Cricut has made cartridges just for Creative Memories?
I didn't. This was made with the cartridge "Cheerful Seasons"
it's super cute! Lots of fun stuff! Everything on my little border there is from CM! You can see this project and instructions here!

I was already in a great mood then I got another phone call for Carolyn the owner of The Crafty Scrapper asking if I would like to teach and be on a design team for a local scrapbook store!

It is about an hour away but everybody drives to this store becasue it is so amazing!
I will be there on the second and take some pictures so I can show you!
I went there as soon as we moved here and I fell in love!!
Wait til you see it!

SO lesson learned, sometimes you have to walk away from
what is familiar to experience the new and exciting things God has for you!
I am still SUPER excited! Can you tell???

Wish

This is my last post as a DT member for GCD and you know, things change. One  door closes, another door opens and change is a good thing. Last year I set my sights on getting on a manufacture design team and I acomplished that goal- this year I have cut the number of teams I am on so that I can have more flexability on what I want to do. I am still scrapbooking but I hope to do more artsy stuff on my pages! So onto todays page!

"Wish" was inspired by my baby girls birthday! She just looks so sweet and innocent, the papers go perfectly with it. (Material Girls by GCD) I used the Chip Art tool (GCD Studios) on the all of the chipboard pieces, they were painted with gesso and Shimmerz Blingz in Island Salsa.
 (Isn't that a fun name?)
This was one of three layouts I had displayed at CHA in the GCD Studios booth
I really loved that the Shimmerz matched the papers beautifully but added that extra sparkle I love!
I also used  it on the edges of the paper strips instead of ink.

Last Sunday I told you what was up with the Barakats but you reminded me that I did not include myself! So not much to tell except lots of crazy allergic reactions to things (of course my allergies are nothing new) but people tell me that happens to everybody when they move here...Hopefully this will pass.

Most of my DT commitments ended or started over this month, so I was finishing up with them. And making desicions about what I wanted to do this year as far as scrapbooking and teams.

I scrap at the dining room table now, it makes it really
hard as I am always moving my stuff. I can't wait to get my room back!
I have done alot of new house stuff, now we are just waiting for them to build it. Lots of paperwork, between the schools, the doctors and insurance I feel like thats all I do!  (Picture me, rolling my eyes!)

We did find a new church home, I miss singing but I am sure that will come in time.
And thats it, pretty boring.
***
Oh and an update on baby girl, we took her off the meds and for 5 days she was fine...and the 6th day she started wheezing and coughing like crazy! She is back on the nebulizer
:( and  it is still not under control so please be praying for her!
Thanks! and have a great day!

Feeling lucky?

Hey there bloggers! How goes your day? Feeling lucky?  I feel  lucky everytime I look at my kids! Here is my 16 year old (although he's not 16 in the picture! LOL) way back when...I used the Ta Da Creative Studios Whirly gig papers- I love that you can use them for boys or girls the colors are perfect for spring and of course St. Patricks day!
The papers I used in this collection are Honolulu and CasaBlanca! I also used the Tag-a-ma-jigs for that cute matching borders. I used heart punches to make those four leaf clovers! The four leaf clover were painted with Green Olive  Shimmerz paints which happen to match the Whirly Gig papers perfectly! Shimmerz has just about every color imaginable!
Don't you have someone you feel lucky about today? Go scrap about them!

Whats going on...updates on the Barakats

Kid's can be so mean.
My little guy just got new glasses and I think he looks so handsome! I mean look at him!
I am not biased right? So he goes to school and the same little girl that wrote him that secret admirer note on Valentines day tells him he looks UGLY!
WHHHHHAAAAT? First of all, how mean! Second of all he does NOT look ugly!
I told him to ignore her - the other kids said he looks nice and smart.
Kudos to you 2nd graders (all but one!)
Meanwhile baby girl has been doing breathing treatments around the clock.
We are hoping this is temporary, she has never had asthma symptoms before - but she has been having a hard time breathing and coughing since we got here. Starting tomorrow she will be off all meds to see if it was a virus instead of asthma. As happy as she looks, she is looking forward to not doing this...
This pic is from open house at school last week!
This may seem silly but we are SO happy to see this pic that our guy drew of himself.
First of all there is a face!(Which is unusual for him)
To top it off HE IS HAPPY in the pic!!! YAY!
He has really been doing great in school
and adjusting nicely to the whole move (phew!)
We are so excited to see this progress!

Now you must keep our oldest in your prayers - DD lost her car to a drunk driver! Praising God she was not in the car at the time; a drunk driver hit it while she was parked and the lady was arrested. We are waiting to hear what the insurance is going to do - the lady was insured (praising God for that too!)

Our oldest son is almost finished with school, 16 and graduating HS. We are very proud of him! As soon as he finishes spring break he has a few days to tie things up at school to be done! Awesome.

We have found a new church and we are settling in - it's hard starting over ,we really miss our other kids...
I am thankful for texts and face book where we can keep up with them.
We love you guys!!!

And last but not least hubby left his own mark at the schools open house, on the teachers white board! Anyone who knows him is not surprised!

Back to basics!

This months theme at ScrapGal is "Back to Basics" and I had to think about what that meant to me. Going back to basics to me means why I started scrapbooking in the first place and how I did it. To me it's all about the story. Everyday stuff, the relationships, things I want to remember and are important in shaping our lives. When people read through my albums they will not just see pretty pages but know who we were, what we meant to each other, what was important to us. When I started I only did two page layouts, I hardly ever do them anymore, it has become quite a challenge to me! In addition I never did feminine layouts until we had baby girl. My oldest dd was not into the girly stuff so all my layouts were "boy colors" -no flowers, now my easiest layouts are totally girly!  So I pulled out all the stops and came up with this!  I have been wanting to tell this story on a layout for awhile and these papers from Basic Grey were perfect! Even the name of this collection fits the situation- it's called "wander".
So think about it, what does "back to basics" mean to you?
