hmmm... I am feeling a trend on my posts this week.
I am not struggling, just trying to keep my priorities straight.
There was a while there (uhmm actually about a year and a half)
that we were living in chaos because of my moms illness;
you may have read about it here and/or here. I feels like we are
definitely past a very hard season in our lives.
I am happy to report that she is doing better. She is adjusting to her new home and is even in a good mood. She is eating and gaining weight!
She still forgets but the paranoia is gone!
And you know I am saying hallelujah to that!
However the disease is progressive, I am not
unrealistic about that. But at least for a while we have some normalcy
back into our lives. She may not remember the day to day stuff but the kids will
cherish these times with their abuela...
Here she is on her birthday- she smiles all the time now, which is probably something you take for granted but I don't. We didn't see it
very often in the past year!
If you have been following my blog for any lentgh of time
you know in addition to tutorials I sometimes talk about where I am at-
because maybe that's where you are at and maybe we can encourage each
other to keep on doing what we do...or are meant to do;
Today is one of those days.
The other day I told you to speak life into your dreams.
This is kind of a continuation to that post. I am reminding myself in this journal page
that although storms may come I will not be swayed
and I will prepare for what is coming.
It is easy to get disheartened. Especially when things happen
like the recent tragedy at the Boston Marathon. It is devastating
how many people were hurt, lost their lives and loved ones.
That is even more reason to pull it together and become more determined to do what
you are called to do.
faith 1.belief or trust: belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof
Prepare- there will be storms...
and failed attempts...
but isn't it better to have tried?
There is a song in my head right now that says
We fall down but we get up
for a saint is just a sinner who fell down
and got up.
(We Fall Down- Donnie McClurkin )
We have to keep trying, moving forward toward our goals and dreams.
Have faith and get your umbrellas out!
This scripture comes to mind;
For God has not given us the spirit of fear,
but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
Fear is a temporary distraction, don't let it become your focus; if you mess up (and you will) keep trying, keep preparing. Anything you do towards your goals/dreams, no matter how small a step, is progress.
Go is not finished yet so don't give up!

Hey bloggers did you see this post on the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft blog?
Well just in case you didn't... I love altering books - especially composition books, they really come in handy for notes and such. And if I am going to carry a note book it needs to look cool so I must alter it, I'm just saying.(This one I actually made for a friend, and hers has to be cool too.)
Here is the front cover. First I covered the entire surface(front and back) with gesso.
The books have a glossy finish, gesso changes that and covers some of the black.
Once it was dry I used a thick layer of modeling paste, I then closed the book
backwards (the two covers touching each other) and that's how I got the back
While it was wet I added the wings stencil and more paste, some buttons,
metal charms and tissue on the bottom and set aside to dry completely.
DRY TECHNIQUE: After it was dry I drew on the journal with Red Cherry
and Lemon Gelatos®. (Lemon in the middle) I spread the color around
with an art sponge, blending and adding color if needed until I liked the look.
(An art sponge is like a make up sponge that is more dense and lasts longer
than a regular sponge.) Then I went back added the doodling and journal.
The last part was adding the sand. (Viva stone art).
Here is how the back turned out - Using the dry technique with Gelatos®.
Here I used PITT® Artist Pen for journaling and doodles.
I hope this gives you and idea to be creative - there are so many things that need to be altered,
I'm just saying!
Good morning (or afternoon or evening...) bloggers!
Today I am up on the ARTISTCELLAR blog (that's where you will get the details to this project!) ------- SPEAK LIFE The thing about art is that it can be a total escape from reality and/or it can help you get through something. It can be a time to be silly and fun or to help you refocus on whats is important. You can choose to stay in something that was meant to be temporary or you can pull yourself together and move on. Sometimes we just need to STAND STILL and let things land where they may before you make your move.
Sometimes you are your only cheerleader and you have to just
keep trying and just hold on.
Who am I talking to? Myself as well as you, my sweet friends.
I have been scrapbooking and doing art for a long time
and there are so many talented people out there! It's hard
not to be intimidated by others talent and success. Early on I was given
really good advice by two amazing ladies- they said don't change the way you do things.
We were talking about the way people photograph and do their work,
they said the industry doesn't need another ___________. There are many girls
that simply mimic other girls and you have your own style. BE YOURSELF.
I still have to remember this becasue I will see someones stuff and think oooh
that is soooo cool I want to do that! Years from now it won't
matter "what was hot"or what everybody was doing. What matters is that it is yours,
it was genuine. And if it helped you get through something BONUS!
That being said (thank you for listening to me if you are still reading ha!)
So if you scrapbook, do art, journal keep doing it. Do it your way and
If you want to try something new
GO FOR IT.
Even if others discourage you.
BE YOUR OWN CHEERLEADER!
here, I'll get you started
WOOOO HOOO! YOU CAN DO IT!
Are there any dreams you need to speak life into today?
