Saturdays - whats on your agenda?

 Happy Saturday!
While you are relaxing and reading my blog
baby girl and I are probably sitting at the ball field
watching the boys play flag football.
 Sometimes she brings books
or toys or even gets to play with a friend.
I love that this league always prays
before the game.
 Sometimes we win,
sometimes we lose - it's all good.
It's all about having fun & praising God.
What does your Saturday look like?

Gift Idea? Got recipes?

Here is a fun gift idea for the person who has everything!
Why not use your scrap supplies to make some recipe cards?
I used one of my DCWV stacks to make these cute cards and holder.

The rolling pin is flat on the bottom and has a slit for the cards.
(I got it from Crafty Secrets years ago- had it in my stash!)
I decorated it to match!
It's never too early to start those holiday gift projects!
Have you started?
The hard part for me is waiting to give the gift! LOL!

What if? Art journal page

Hey bloggers! Here are some more ideas using
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Mix and Match Gelatos™
and Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils!

I wanted a very soft water color background for this page.
Because of it is a large surface I opted to use Gelatos™, lightly
drawing on the surface and spreding the color with a wet paitnbrush.
Of course more drawing with your Gelatos™ means more color and
more water gives transparency. I used the lighter color (Buttercream) first
and push the darker color (Cotton Candy) right up, somtimes overlapping
the first color.

The Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils are perfect for small
surfaces and details like the eyes. When I am finished I
go over outlines and eyelashes with a black fine tip
PITT® Artist Pen.

I used Lemon and Metallic Melon Gelatos™ for her hair and lips.
#105 yellow, 147 blue and #108 peach  Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils for the eyes.
176 brown for eyebrows. For the skin I mixed a peach and chocolate Gelatos™
with a little acrylic paint.
(I also used a little heavy gel medium to add texture to her hair.)

I cut tears out of Clear Scraps acrylic sheets, colored theme
Alcohol inks and glued them onto my page that was already
written on - it's a really fun effect!

The journaling is from a song called
Blessings by Laura Story.
it really helped through the rough times when I had surgery back in May.
 Songwriter: Laura Mixon Story
We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep.
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering.

All the while, You hear each spoken need
yet love is way too much to give us lesser things.
'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near?
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear.
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near.
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
as if every promise from Your Word is not enough.

And all the while You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe.

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near?
And what if trials of this lifeAre Your mercies in disguise?
When friends betray us,
when darkness seems to win we know that pain reminds this heart
that this is not, this is not our home. It's not our home.

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near?
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life is the revealing of a greater thirst
this world can't satisfy?
And what if trials of this life,
the rain,
 the storms,
the hardest nights -
are Your mercies in disguise?

Has this ever happened to you?

Hey there bloggers! One of the things I love about
scrapbooking is sometimes you don't notice things until you get them
in a photo and think "When did that happen?" The boys are
playing flag football and I was just practicing with my camera.
(I am taking a photography class and actually reading the manual! LOL!)
So I am taking these pics and when I get them blown up on my computer
I am thinking - "When did my son get so big?"

I mean seriously, his mannerisms and stance look so grown.
He just turned 10 this summer and I didn't
think he had changed that much. Until I saw these pics!

Here he is with his siblings
in June and I see a BIG difference!

It's also one of those moments when
you get a glimpse of what he will look all grown up!
I don't like it, he's just a baby. My baby boy.

Has this ever happened to you?
Noticing something in a pic that you
neglected to see right in front of you?
Happy Saturday peeps!

The last post...

Hello blog friends!
It is taking me forever to make this post.
It is my last official post for Ta Da Creative Studios
as a DT member. Nothing is wrong, our term is up-
I was asked to stay, but I felt like it was time for a change
and to open my schedule for new opportunities. Time for growth.
I have been on the team for over two years and let me tell you
I was blessed to work with for these two amazing ladies.
I was also blessed to make very dear friends that remain special
even though I am no longer on the team.
Sometimes being a part of team becomes more than just a job,
they become family and if ever get the chance to work with
these ladies go for it!

I just could not leave the team without telling you how wonderful it
has been working with these ladies. Thank you Annette and Mary
for making this such a wonderful experience. And thank you Margie
for helping me as I learned how to be a head DT and
being such an amazing friend.

OK seriously, now that I have that off my chest the last official layout.
I say that because you may see work now and again on the Ta Da Studios
blog I just wont be on the team.

This layout was made with the poolside collection.
The clouds (sunny skies die cut-part of this collection)
are already cut - I filled them in with scraps.
I also used it for a template to cut out some extra clouds.
It's such a fun topic, I had to use fun and happy papers and
these were perfect!

 -
The polka dots are hole punched from scraps
and the journal spot was leftover from one of the pictures.
This is a good way to get lots of photos on a layout,
I trimmed the pictures to different small sizes and rearranged them a bit!
I hope that gives you a few of simple ideas
to add a little fun to your layouts!

Any budding artist in your family?

Hey bloggers Rita Barakat here!
The kids are back in school (yay!) and already I am thinking
what am I going to do with all that artwork? After all
"Every Artist was first and amatuer!"
Ralph Waldo Emerson
So I came up with a mini album!
How about taking a picture of your budding artist
and filling the pages with pictures if their beautiful artwork?
Of course I had to decorate mine, (but you could let the kids do it)
I will add their pictures as I get them!

I used this album is the 8 inch circle album from Clear Scraps.
For the cover I had fun coloring these beautiful papers from the
Forever and Always stack from DCWV with Gelatos.
They have a metallic shine/resist thing going on and when I draw on the paper
with Gelatos, then rub it in with get this a sponge it looks so pretty!
You already know that you adhere lots of different papers to acrylic
but did you know that you can use lots of different mediums to
color acrylic if you use gesso first?

Paint it on or use an old gift card.
The trick is you must let it dry completly!

Then you can paint, mist, stencil whatever - and it looks really cool!
(If I do say so myself.)
I used Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gelatos™
in the Blue Collection (Cotton Candy, Blueberry, Boysenberry &
Grape). Did I mention I like purples?

I also used texture paste and a stencil directly on the acrylic.
What you are looking at is a clear page with
the stenciled frame and words. (see below.)
Hint* I used cut up words and had the same saying on the back- the trick is
on the back of the word "the" is the word "in" and the back of the word
"in" is the word "the".

Covering the entire page with gesso allowed me to
play with all types of techniques.
For this page I got the same look as a mist by drawing with

Gelatos™ on the top and misting it with lots of water until
it started to drip down. After it was dry I went back and added dots with a stencil.

I think these will be great backgrounds for my budding artists!

Supplies:
Clear Scraps Acylic album
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gelatos™
Gesso

Texture paste
Stencil -  the Crafters Workshop
Papers -  DCWV
Washi Tape - Love My Tapes
ribbon
