Art journaling & a giveaway (now closed)

One of the things I like love about art journaling is there are no rules-
it's your book you can put whatever you want in - there
doesn't have to be a reason behind it, you don't have to write if you
don't want to and you can use whatever mediums you want to use.
Some people do their backgrounds first- I don't and I say whatever works for you!

I certainly do not claim to be the best or the most knowledgeable. LOL
I have never taken art classes so I can only tell you how I do things
and my experience with the products. I will tell you I love art products and
I am SO curious that when I get a new product that I try all types of
surfaces and ways to use it. Something  I always use is a pencil -
just a regular #2 pencil, sometimes mechanical and a white eraser.
YES, I erase... A LOT.
When there are a lot of details (like fairies) I go over my drawings first
with a black PITT Artist pen. Then I erase again any lines.
This step is important to me because the PITT Artist Pens have India Ink -
it dries quickly and is waterproof ; I can paint and not lose my lines.
Unlike a permanent marker they do not bleed through the paper-
which is important in an art journal book when I am painting on the back as well.

I used Gelatos, Aquarelles, Twinkling H20's &
Radiant Rain.
What I love about the Faber- Castell Design Memory Craft
line is they all mix and match - I can get the same color in a PITT Artist pen,
as in an Aquarelle water color pencil and Gelato. So you can choose
what to use depending on what
you are doing or what kind of media you are comfortable with.
I like having options - some of my work is very small details
(like eyes) so I like using a superfine nib (tip) to get into really small areas
and larger areas with Gelatos.

The Twinkling H20's and Radiant Rain are translucent so I
used gesso on my entire surface first. I love that these products
shine and give my finished projects dimension.
In this picture you can see the glittery parts - love that!
Now the metallic Gelatos have a glittery effect too but it's just different
- you have to see this in person for yourself to see why
you would need both! They compliment each other!
I am hooked!

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos

The little pots are Luminarte Twinkling H20's and the liquid tube is Radiant Rain.
(Uggh - I NEED this in every color now!!! I only have two colors of Rain!)

The shine in the sun and her eye shadow is from the Radiant Rain.

Here is the completed page - inspired by the song "He Loves " by David Crowder Band.
I love that song.

Art journaling.
You should try it!
Just color!

This is post 2 to my countdown!
On Monday I will announce a winner for

Dream, giveaway conitnued!(now closed)

Hey there bloggers! So today I want to reveal the entire layout so you
can get a feel for  Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos and
Creative Imaginations Luminarte Twinking H20's! Seriously I don't know
why I never tried them before! If you have followed my blog for a while
you know I am a Gelato freak! I love them, use them on everything!
The Twinkling H20's is like icing on the cake! YUM!
You can use them on pretty much anything-
paper, canvas, ribbon, resist papers with rubons...And the Twinkling H2o's were the
perfect compliment! It's hard to see in the pictures but if you take a close look
to the girl I drew- see her hair and how it appears to have highlights?
The "highlighted" area is actually the same color as the Gelatos
but because light is reflecting off the Twinkling H20 paint-
it looks like highlights. Seriously, in person,
when it's dry it looks like frosted eye shadow! So pretty!

Both Gelatos and Twinkling H20's are solid.
Gelatos can be used wet or dry -I used a small wet paint brush to get into small areas.
For stenciling I used a dry sponge and Gelatos.
Twinkling H20's have to be wet, mist, wait a few minutes for the paint ot soften
and the mica (shiny stuff!) comes to the top which is
how you get that fun frosted look!

I am trying to incorporate more art into my layouts, because of the theme of this layout
it was especially important to me! Can you read the journaling? It says...
If I could give out any advice it would be to Dream BIG,
explore your interests and never stop learning!
When I was little I was always in trouble for doodling on my schoolwork and making a mess- I would cut up all my papers, magazines, pictures... To this day I can't sit in a lecture or watch TV without drawing, coloring or cutting!
I am super blessed to be able to stay at home and do these things!
Sometimes I even paid for what I do!
So if you love something... Dream BIG!

I hope you enjoyed this post - if you have any questions  about
these products or techniques please leave it in the comments section.
And don't forget my giveaway (now closed)
to celebrate making 500 posts!
This is post
3!

By the way all the resist papers and stencils are from
Creative Imaginations!

A color tutorial with Gelatos!

Here there bloggers!
I don't know why but I can never seem find the right color
flower to go in my hair! (and the right clip - so it doesn't fall out, but I digress...)
Well I found these white flowers at Forever 21,
they were the perfect size and had the right type of clip!
And I think to my self...
Why couldn't I color these with my Gelatos™? Hmmm...
So I pulled out Red Cherry, Mango, Lime, Cotton Candy & Metallic Melon.

I drew right on the flowers, using Red Cherry and Mango on one of the flowers.

Misted them with water and rubbed the color around in some spots
with my fingers.
(Have I mentioned that Gelatos™ come right off your hands with
a little soap and water?)

Here you can see they were very wet, this is important for blending.
I set them aside to dry- I did not use a heat gun, afraid the fabric might melt!
(That would not be good.)

The color lightens up a bit when dry but I love the result!
Maybe the next time you see my picture I will have a pretty flower in my hair!
Hope you are using your Gelatos™!

ALTeReD scraps!

OK creative peeps, put the scraps down!
I know you want to do- you finished that layout or card
and you want to throw away those scraps!
But don't do it! LOL! What you do want to do is get out your
art supplies!
I started with various scraps and started cutting,
tearing, embossing and then coloring!
I used Sizzix Die cut for the flowers, Sizzix /Tim Holtz
embossing folder for the background.
I love painting, blending colors is my favorite technique!
I was super excited to play with some new paints this week!
I used Creative Imaginations Luminarte Twinkling H20's with my
Faber Castell Design Craft Gellatos!
I wish you could see these shimmery colors in person!
The Twinkling H20's come in little pots, you wet them and the Mica comes to the top
and you dip a paintbrush an paint with them! (This could get addictive!)
I love these colors together!
Here are some more angles- it's stormy here so it's hard
to get a good picture!

I am participating in a couple of online challenges -
I haven't done that in FOREVER and I was having a
bad day so I did this instead!
It changed my day-  you should try it!
and
(of course this isn't a tag but hey, I was inspired!)

Oh I almost forgot!
The countdown to 500 posts!
