Enchante

Transitions are hard, it seems like forever but it's only been two months since our first born went away to college. I had not shown this lo as the papers had not come out yet- these are from the Metallic paper pad by Momenta . This is an older photo of my dd from her junior year - I posted the pics before but not the layout.
The papers are black and metallic, white and metallic, I inked the white parts with rose distress ink to   compliment her dress. I made the flowers out of paper as well, used silver Stickles on top.
I miss my daughter - it is not the same without her.

flashback...

This is still one of my favorite pictures, this is baby girl on her first birthday. She slept through most of her party; holding her is her foster papa. He and his wife nursed her back to health when she came into the system. They helped her until she was healthy enough to come home. We love this couple and you can tell by this picture he loves our baby girl.He was so happy just carrying her around een though she was sleeping!

The page is a 6x12 acrylic from clearscraps.com
I used this for a challenge this weekend at Citrus Tree Studio - you had to scrap something that wasn't a square! No squares allowed! I have to say it was alot of fun using this size of a page - it's actually a part of a Mixables album from Clear Scraps. The papers are from the Bloom and Grow colletion at My Minds Eye. Which happens to be the manufacture of the month over at Scrap Gal!

We will always be grateful.

Fall Decorations

Hello! Don't you just love fall?
Today I am showing your this really easy to make wreath I made.
***
Here are the supplies you will need:
1 Styrofoam 12 inch wreath
6 sheets of 12x12 papers
1 ribbon
2 flowers
1 box of craft Glue Dots (R)

***
Cut 1x6 inch strips with all your papers
Use a glue to hold both ends together - it is important that you do not fold the paper in half.

This is the part that takes the longest, adhere the flat part of the papers to the foam wreath with
Glue Dots (R) ,   overlapping 1/4 to 1/2 of the paper loop before it. Do this until you fill your wreath, tucking in extras if you missed a spot. Sometimes I even folded the loops up a little, once it was stuck to the wreath to make it look fuller.

After the wreath is covered add some flowers (or whatever embellishments you want to use) and a ribbon on the back!
And here it is!

I love the idea of black and creame because I may just switch those flowers and ribbon out with a couple of ornaments for Christmas! Easy!

Papers used were GCD Studios - Paris Nights.

Don't forget to head over to Citrus Tree Studio tommorow for the CROP!!!

A quick post!

Hi all! I get these cool emails from...

And sometimes they are right on. This was in my inbox today and I wanted to share it with you.
Dear Brilliant Girl,

Words are powerful. It is really amazing how a grouping of sounds made with air coming through our throats, over the position of our tongue and through our teeth and lips, can have such a huge impact....it’s just air and sound waves! So.....what is it about words?

Written words hold so much of the same power...sometimes more. How is it that a combination of shapes and lines put together can have so much power?

This leaves us with an important responsibility. We need to be careful with something that has this much power.

We need to watch carefully the words that come from our mouths....and SO carefully the words we let pass into our ears, sweet friend.

We need to be SO VERY CAREFUL to be choosy about the words that meet our eyes off of paper, and then penetrate into our hearts....everything has an effect.

Look for good, true and beautiful messages, and only let those in. THEN, formulate good true and beautiful messages from your heart...and ONLY let those out.....

Because words are powerful. Words have power to heal, and they have power to destroy. Words have power to clear things up and power to confuse. Words have power to create a feeling of light and hope...or a feeling of darkness and despair.

Choose them wisely...both coming and going....YOUR SOUL IS SO IMPORTANT.

You are so very loved.

Are you ready for Football?!

The only football you will ever catch me watching is when my son is playing! This is a really cool size album I put together for my son who played his first year of football! I say first because he has been obsessed with football since he could talk and only wanted to play tackle football! He loves looking at these pics so I put them in this album for him. He loves it! The album is called"Sassy" and it's from Clear Scraps!

Here are the pages...

All of the papers and embellishments are from Ta Da Creative Studios !
The collection is called "Jock Jams".
This  album is perfect for a theme album - like football! LOL! Or maybe halloween pics throught the years or things I am grateful for....

GCD October Technique Oct 16th

Hello Bloggers! Have you ever been in a pinch for a quick gift?
Well I wasn't in a pinch but a scrappy friend needed something for her scrapbook room to get her motivated!I have these frames with my favorite quotes in my scrapbook room here.

So my friend asked me to make her one.

All you need is
a frame (dollar store anyone?)
Two pieces of paper
( She wanted vellum because she loved this yellow flocked paper from GCD - Sunny Brocade, Lydia Collection and wanted it to show as much as possible!LOL!)
A piece of ribbon
A flower
Some embellies ( I cut out butterflies from the Artsy Urban line, GCD)
A printer for your favorite quote.
Some glue dots for the embellies and to attach the paper to the ribbon
One staple for the ribbon to stay in place.

So what  kind of gifts do you whip up in a pinch???

Welcome...

Goodies anyone? Needing a little giveaway for a gathering? These are so easy to put together!
Supplies: Supplies:

Pattern Papers & Alphas (Momenta-All Through the Year Super Paper Pad),
Cardstock (Momenta - Earthtones Paper Pad), Flowers (Prima),
Large Brads, “Sparkly Fluff” from OurCraftLounge.net,
Glue Dots ®, Staples, Quart size sandwhich bags, goodies (to fill your bags),
Jute, Shimmerz

Bag Instructions:
Cut your cardstock into 4x6 rectangles (one sheet yields 6 rectangles)

Fold these rectangles in half.

Cut your pattern papers into 1 ½ x 5 ½ rectangles.

Fill your bags and fold a corner over, the bags are slightly bigger than 6 inches and you want to cover the top of the bag with your folded cardstock. Staple these to keep them closed. Use Glue Dots ® to cover the staples with the pattern paper. Use another Glue Dot to hold the flower in place.

Flower Instructions:

I sprayed the flowers with several colors of Shimmerz and set those aside. I took the large brads and covered them with Glue Dots(R), dipped them in the Sparkly Fluff. When the flowers are dry use the covered brads for the centers.

I had leftover pattern papers so I just had to make a card!

New Creation...

Are you up for a challenge? An Art Journal challenge? I found this cool blog Pinch me to see if you are dreaming, by Zom Osborne and was totally inspired to make this page! So my challenge this month over at Citrus Tree Studio is to make an art journal page!

What is an Art Journal?
•An art diary , art journal or visual journal is a daily journal kept by artists, often containing both words and sketches, and occasionally including multimedia elements such as collages. ...

•Established in New York in 1941, Art Journal is a publication of the College Art Association of America (referred to as "CAA"). ...
•A collection of words and images in a diary that chronicles the ideas, memories, and thoughts of an artist. Pages within an art journal include words, pictures and even embellishments
                                                      (en.wiktionary.org/wiki/art_journal)

Notes from me: This is your journal, diary whatever you want to call it. Your thoughts onto paper. You can use whatever art mediums you want - no wrongs, it's your page! Maybe it makes sense to you and no one else, that's OK, remember it's your page. This is something you do for you. This is something I do when I am in a rut or just need a break!

Here are some close ups of my page, I have been thinking about this for a while...

My notes...

A little scripture for perspective...

So my challenge is for you to make an Art Journal page!
No rules- use whatever mediums you like, use a song or poem for inspiration.
If you take on this you can post it at Citrus Tree Studio to have a chance at a prize!
I would love to see your work- if you do it please leave me a link to where you posted it!
