True Colors

Color Technique: Have you ever wanted to change the colors on your layout because you have a really great idea? Or maybe you don’t have an embellishment in the matching color? I loved the idea of a rainbow to go with my layout but I am not digitally inclined so I came up with this.

I printed a black and white photo (I added the text in white in Photoshop) and then used distress ink and a blending tool! (A foam sponge would work in a pinch, but having a handle helps!) I used the different color inks right on the photo! When it came to the next color I blended the two together so there would not be harsh lines between the colors, like a rainbow!

In addition to this I wanted the bling to match so I used Alcohol Inks on them. Before removing the bling from the sheet it’s on, I put drops of each color direct from the bottle onto the bling, changing colors after a few. If the color was too light I did another coat when it dried. After it was completely dry I removed it and put it on my layout. (You can’t rush this process with a heat gun or your bling will get stuck to the surface it’s on!) Easy!

I used it on the center of this bling flower and circle too.

Supplies:

Ranger Distress Inks, Papers- Momenta, Lace ribbon-Spare Parts, organza ribbon - Offray, bling - Heidi Swap, ZVA Creative and Prima, velvet flowers – Creative Imaginations, crochet flowers handmade, bling flower centers - Prima, large rhinestone flower -Bazzil

Here is the  layout in it's entirety!

Sunkissed beauty

Oh my goodness does time fly or WHAT??? I cannot believe we are already into fall and summer days are behind us , or at least they will be by the end of the month when the weather turns cold here! Today it's a  beautiful 80 degrees. Perfect weather for me. So I leave you with a summer lo - ahh doesn't baby gilr look cute? She cracks me up becuase she posed on that rock saying "take my picture!" At least one of my kids like having their picture taken!
I love orange (yes, I can admit that Miss E.LOL) and look at the vibrant color on these papers. These are from Momenta and I love that although there is a palm tree they are not your typical colors. I love scrapping wiht these colors...Hmmm fall colors- yes! The papers and stickers are from the "Endless Summer" collection.

It's actually a two page lo - I don't know why but I have such a hard time photographing 2 pagers!
If anybody has any hints on how to get a good picture of a 2 pager let me know!
There you have it. OH and swing by tommorow I have some really cool news!

"The Look"

Hey hey, busy day but not too busy to show you a quick layout. I have been having alot of fun using mists lately and  I changed this layout completely using them. The embossed paper was white, the flowers were green and the grungeboard (of course) was gray. The mists changed them into the beautiful colors before you. And it was fun! Can't beat that!

Here is a close up of the journaling, my baby girl loves her daddy...
This layout was from the "Paisley Heights" kit at Citrus Tree Studio.

Here you can really see all the sparkles the mists left behind!

Supplies:
Bazzil embossed papers
Alphas KI Memories
Prima flowers and leaves
Bazzil Paisley chipboard
KI Memories Pattern Paper& Journal Tags
Mists: Shimmerz and Tattered Angels
 Distress Ink on edges

Back to School!!!

Ahhh back to school, gotta love it! Especially me who now has three 1/2 hours four days a week to herself! LOL! What will I do with myself??? Well today I have a GCD Studios project for you about back to school! A two pager even!

I must admit that I am horrible about getting a good picture of a two page layout so I take them separately. There is a considerable risk however that the pages will not line up when you put them together! Trust me when I tell you the big circle does line up in person!
You are creative and you can visualize it, right? Good!
                                                                                     :)

The layout was inspired by this page...
The papers and accessories are (of course) GCD Studios,
   the Homespun Chic collection.
                                                            (Alphas are Making Memories)
I really loved doing the pic of their little backpacks and shoes.
I think when they are older they will get a kick out of that!

My oldest son gave me a typical " no way I am doing back to school photos" 'tude so I snapped his pic as he was walking to class! (maybe he'll appreciate that one day too! LOL!)

I love fall, it's my favorite time of the year. I love back to school, new pencils, art supplies, paper and notebooks! Back to school shopping and a little peace and quiet.

                                                         SHHHH hear that? Um hmm...
Nothing. Gotta love it! Here's wishing you a little peace and quiet in your day!

My journal and other freakish habits...

Ok so I'll let you in on a littel secret about me - I am a little freakish about taking notes and making lists. I have notebooks all over the place! The crazy thing is if I write it down I will remember it - I don't have to go back to look at it, but if I don't write it down I will surely forget it! During "back to school" shopping for the kids I picked a few extra composition books at .25cents!!! Now I can't have that plain boring cover staring at me (so NOT creative!) so I made myself a new cover! What do you think?

I started with a plain notebook and a few papers - the butterfly is GCD Studios Artsy Urban collection.

This background papr is from the Paris Nights collection. Line up the paper with the book, flip it over and use a craft knife to cut off any excess paper.

Adhere it to the notebook. Did you know that you can use a Cropadile to punch holes in the cute little tins? I did this so I could add cute little emebellishments to the tin.

I wanted to add pink to the butterfly, making it match the tin. I used permanent marker to change the colors. I punched holes in the book to add the GCD Studios brads.

You certainly did not think I would make a book cover with out a little glam did you? Nope had to break out my Shimmerz!

I couldn't leave well enough alone so I added a little gloss on top of that - it gave it the look of epoxy, cool.

And the finished result...
And a butterfly close up so you see the Shimmerz!
