Can we talk?

Oh my goodness is it getting hard not to post my latest creations! So I pulled out this one that I submitted for Tada Studio Creations when they were having their DT call! They have all brand new stuff coming out next month and I can't wait to get my stuff so I can start designing!  These papers are from the Abode a La Mode collection. The papers were so darling, they reminded me of a really cute and trendy coffee shop that you would go to with a friend. ;) ! Wouldn't these papers make great wallpaper? Love these colors!

Also did you notice anything different? Oh yeah, I cut my hair! Its been half way down my back for the past 18 years I decided to go for a change. Not loving it yet, I did it because I THOUGHT it would be easier to style... I was so WRONG! Maybe I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet, but I miss being able to throw it in a ponytail! But enough about me! LOL!

See this journal box? I created it but using yellow, red and orange Distress Inks on photo paper with a blending tool. I also sprayed it with Starburst spray in Red Hot Poker. Then I ran it through my printer!

I wanted to make steam rise out of the cup so I cut up it up and twisted it.Pretty fun result!
                                                                               ***
Oh! I almost forgot I got this sweet award from my new friend Lidia AKA Rainbow ! If you click on her name it will take you to her blog and you want to check it out because she does the most breathtaking beautiful intricate work!

Isn't this cute? As I accept these awards I need to do a few things:

1. Give a list of ten things that make you happy.
      1. God's love for me
      2. my hubby
      3. my kids (and thats really 5!)
      4. my friends
      5. music- singing- worship
      6. scrapbooking! (hello! LOL !)
      7. chocolate
      8. warm sunny days
      9. shopping - for scrapbook supplies
      10. the spa

2. A trivia of five things about me.
       1. I sing- but only christian music, I opened for several christian music artists like Cindy Morgan, Bryan Duncan, Helen Baylor...
       2. I was one of the first girls that played "Jasmine" at Disneyland.
       3. I can't stand white walls. I have color painted in every room of my house!
       4. I am horrible with technology - oh yeah computers, cell phones all those fun gadgets! Thank God I have kids to help me out! LOL!
       5. I can't eat dairy products - seriously, makes me sick sick sick!

3. Share the award with only 5 people and ask them to do the same.
Really only 5??? In no particualr order... I have been blessed many times by these ladies so it is only fitting that they deserve a "sweet" blogger award!
       1. Stacey
       2. Heidi
       3. Michelle
       4. Suzanne
       5. Bernice

 4. Link the blogs you choose and the blog of the person who gave to you. DONE IT!

Only one week and all my fun reveals start! Please stay tuned! And thanks for stoppin' by! (I love comments by the way!)

What have I been up to? and a prayer request...

Wow I can't believe it's been five days since I have blogged!!! Don't worry this won't happen often! Because of the new design teams I am kind of in transition! I am always creating something but because I am busy creating for different teams I can't share those projects until each team does their reveal!
Once the first of the month hits I will have tons to share!

Meanwhile can you tell what I've been busy doing? Yep! It's football season and my little guy has football fever! These little guys crack me up! Sometimes they are running and because their equiptment is so heavy and they are so little they just fall over! It is way cute! Check it out...

A little pep talk!
Well since I have no scrappy goodness to show you how about a scrappy challenge from
Little Girl: What are your memories of being a little girl? Were you cared for and cherished, or were you more of an adult in a child's body? Were you shy or outgoing? If you had sisters and/or brothers, were you treated the same way as they were by your parents, or were there differences? Were you a girly girl or a tomboy? Were there strong messages, from parents, grandparents or other adults about what your role was a a child, and about what you believed you could accomplish as a grown woman? If you have a daughter, do you find yourself treating her in very specific ways that are about her being a girl - are there different rules for girls and boys, and are they justified? What would you tell yourself as a little girl if you could go back and talk to her?

Please create a LO where you 'speak' to your 'little girl'. What would she need to hear to make her life easier? What do you want them to know?

For the design twist, make this LO as girly or as tomboy-ish as you were!

Isn't that fun?

And for my praying sisters out there - please keep Rachel (owner of Scrapbooking From the Inside Out) in your prayers! She is having some terrible back problems and therapy is not helping! We know who the Master Healer is! Let's agree for healing - thanks in advance!!!

Happy scrapping!

The Best Days

If you want to have a meaningful conversation with a teenager get in the car. No really! I don't know why but when you get in the car with a teenager they start talking! So I am in the car with my oldest and she says "Mom, you have to hear this song! Everytime I hear it I think of you." Well we listened to it together, I am in tears and she says " Mom, we have a pretty good life." I said "Yeah baby, we do."

The song is "The Best Day" by Taylor Swift. Here are the lyrics in case you can't read them on the layout.

"The Best Day"

I'm five years old
It's getting cold
I've got my big coat on
I hear your laugh
And look up smiling at you
I run and run
Past the pumpkin patch
And the tractor rides
Look now -- the sky is gold
I hug your legs and fall asleep
On the way home

I don't know why all the trees change in the fall
I know you're not scared of anything at all
Don't know if Snow White's house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day
With you today

I'm thirteen now
And don't know how my friends
Could be so mean
I come home crying and you hold me tight and grab the keys
And we drive and drive
Until we've found a town
Far enough away
And we talk and window-shop
Until I've forgotten all their names

I don't know who I'm gonna talk to
Now at school
I know I'm laughing on the car ride home with you
Don't know how long it's gonna take to feel okay
But I know I had the best day
With you today

I have an excellent father
His strength is making me stronger
God smiles on my little brother
Inside and out
He's better than I am
I grew up in a pretty house
And I had space to run
And I had the best days with you

There is a video
I found from back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen
And you're talking to me
It's the age of princesses and pirate ships
And the seven dwarfs
Daddy's smart
And you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world

Now I know why all the trees change in the fall
I know you were on my side
Even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
Staying back and watching me shine

And I didn't know if you knew
So I'm taking this chance to say
That I had the best day
With you today

You can listen to it here.
(click on the word here!)
Well that was more than enough for me to want to scrap this moment! It's on these days when you feel like you did something right! (Love that girl!)

I made this layout for Scrapbooking From the Inside Out with this months kit "Nostalgia". The pattern paper is GCD Studios, Sunny Days collection. The cardstock is Coordinations. I sprayed the cardstock and the flowers with Maya Mist. The border is from Basic Grey, Nook and Pantry Doily Yellow and Cream. I also inked the edges with Distress Ink in Broken China. TFL!

Insprired! Woo hoo! Tim Holtz!

I recieved my signed copy of Tim Holtz new book today! I am so excited because this is the coolest book! And it could not have come any sooner! I have been wanting to scrap all day but just couldn't get started... then I got this! I haven't even read it but just skimming through the pages gave me so much inspiration that I started creating!!!

I was wanting to make a layout for todays challenge at Couture Cardstock so I came up with this!
They are having a contest this month and challenges everyday! I saw Couture Cardstock paper at CHA and it was quality paper, I was very impressed with this company!
I used lots of metallic paint, inking, pearl ex! I love this grunge look!
I was trying to get some pics of baby girl, but sometimes she is so fast this is what I catch with my camera! In a blink of an eye, she is gone! Being that my oldest is 18 and graduating this year I know that in a blink of an eye she will be gone too. Sad, kids grow up so fast!
The scroll is grungeboard, the letters are chipboard. I embossed them, painted them with metallic paints and brushed a little pearl ex here and there. I used a white gel pen too. I used masks and stamps (stamped Versamark on the paper and brushed the pearlex powders on top.) I inked the edges of the photo and the papers.
I used rub ons for the calandar, border and the blue letters on the photo.  I also thought this would be a good place to put my picture of me and Mr. Tim Holtz at CHA!

Moving forward! winner...

Hello Saturday!
I'm sure you are wanting to find out who won my giveaway!!! You will have to scroll down to the bottome of this post but first I wanted to leave you with this lo. Yep this is me, another layout done with the Nostalgia kit this month at Scrapbooking From The Inside Out . I have to admit it was fun thinking about "the old days" but you know I am a person that lives in the present, looking towards the future. The journaling here is actually a song by Isreal (click on it to hear it!)and Ricardo Sanchez  called "moving forward". THis is "my song" right now ( this is always changing depending on where I am at!)

Here are all the lyrics to "Moving Forward"
I'm not going back,
I'm moving ahead
I'm here to declare
In You old things are made new
Surrender my life to Christ
I'm moving moving forward

What a moment
You have brought me to
Such a freedom
I have found in You
What a Healer
You make all things new
Yeah Yeah Yeah

You have risen
With all power in Your Hands
You have given me
A second Chance
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Yeah Yeah Yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeah

You maka all things new
You make all things new
I will follow You forward

Did you notice the plastic flower? I made that out of the same Hambly screen print on the page! I used my Sizzix and my hea embossing gun to curl the edges a bit! ( If you try this at home be careful - it can easily burn!) The background paper is Basic Grey, it was yellow, I sprayed it pink to make it this oranage! I used alcohol inks on the back of my large screen print to give it some bolder hues of color. (Hint- make sure its the back or you will remove the delicate screen print design! Trust me!)
Now what you've been waiting for!!!
Now I need your help because surely there is an easier way to do this, if you have a better system please share with me for the next time. What I did was assign everybody a number, by their comment, another if they were a follower and then if the put my giveaway on their blog another. I was so excited to find random.com to have them pick random numbers, I ended up with 185 entries! I put that into the interger generator and asked for two numbers- this is what it gave me...

Random Integer Generator

Homesick

What do you recall when you think about the past? That’s what we’ll be exploring this month as we take a real look, from both sides, at what’s in your rear view mirror with our March kit, NOSTALGIA. This is another DT layout I did for Scrapbooking From The Inside Out .

I just got back from Vegas, the place I am talking about in this layout. Of course, it's not the same.

But I thought it appropriate for this post, this day, right now.
Here is a close up of the journaling...

Here is a close up on the details... A little quilling,
a little misting, a little masking...a little doodling...a little painting..

This was a fun layout to make!

The pattern paper is from GCD Studios Sunny Days collection. I used the backside of Basic Grey Lemonade Doily Swiss Dot Aqua. I painted the American Crafts Letterman Thickers (in Apricot) with Rangers Adirondack Paint Dabber (in Lettuce). Everything on this lo (except the mist and quilling) was in the Nostalgia kit.

MARCH MADNESS AT SCRAPPERIE!
There are so many good things in store this month at Scrapperie, I don't know where to begin! What better way to bring in March than with a new mini contest? Starting today, you could win really big just by referring your friends to join the Scrapperie forums. We are REALLY close to having our 1000th member. Start spreading the word and you could win REALLY big! The rules for this one are pretty simple - bring in the 1000th member and you (and the new member) will win a HUGE cache of scrappy goodness. This is the only catch: You will need to make sure that the new person joining our forums puts your name down as the referer upon registering. ( don't forget this part!!!!) ;)

At Scrapperie for every challenge you complete, you'll get TWO entries into the monthly prize pool drawing. At the end of the month, Sandy picks two winners and they will each get a nice, big surprise of scrappy fun in the mail!!
